It’s been a whirlwind first year for TRIBE// after an intense creation In April and May. We began a preview tour starting with a sold out preview in Brighton Fringe 2017, nominated for South East Dance Award, at DanceEast Pulse festival, double bill with 2Faced Dance Company at Discover Dance Festival in Stoke. TRIBE// enjoyed the full last preview performance at The Showroom in Chichester, with stunning new lighting design by Mike Bignall.
Victoria has become a supported Discovery Artist 2017-18 at Pavilion Dance South West in Bournemouth. It provides TRIBE// with invaluable support at this early stage of the company, A week residency in the summer enabled the work to continue to grow, room to play and delve deeper, we were also joined by local Artists in the studio to capture some of the work.
We were delighted to have Article19 visit us in the studio there and create this Interview feature about the making of Still I Rise and TRIBE// for us and take stunning photos of the work: http://www.article19.co.uk/hdvideo2/tribe_company_still_i_rise.php.
It’s also been busy for our Educational work. We have had two sold out professional Intensives in Brighton, sharing what we have created and giving an insight to TRIBE//s physical style. Victoria has also been a guest teacher at FreeFall Summer School in Cornwall, lead workshops for A-Level students at BHASVIC, created ‘Still’ for Kinesis Youth Dance Company in Bristol, and choreographic residency at Polish School Contemporary Dance Theatre in Bytom (PWST) most recently representing Pavilion Dance South West at Bath Spa University.
